recently attended the Marketers Association Zimbabwe conference in Mutare and one of the presenters shared something which inspired me to write this article. The presenter shared the story of lion and the gazelle. Well basically for those who do not know it, the quote was worded by Christopher McDougall, in the poem Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen and it goes like ““Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up, it knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn’t matter whether you’re the lion or a gazelle when the sun comes up, you’d better be running.” This quote bodes well for us who are highly ambitious and are looking to succeed at whatever cost. We need to keep running otherwise we lose out and perish. Whatever it is that you do I encourage you, keep running, whatever took you up keep doing it, whatever made you successful keep doing and do not relent.
Success, I always say is never an accident, it is achieved through careful planning and a deliberate effort to succeed. To attain it, you need to be doing something and if you keep moving forward chances are that one day you will stumble on success. There’s a law of success called the probability theory which simply states that the more things you do, the more likely that you will succeed in one of them. So have the boldness to try out new things. The most important question we always need to ask ourselves is “why not” and not “why”. In Deuteronomy 1:6 God said to the people of Israel “You have stayed long enough at this mountain. 7 Break camp and advance into the hill country of the Amorites; my challenge to you is to closely and objectively analyze where you’re as an individual and determine how long you’ve done what you’ve always done. For some of us it’s apparent that we might need to consider changing jobs, quitting certain relationships, reading more, praying more etc. Whatever you do in life, Keep Moving Forward, Don’t be caught up in a place of stagnation! Have faith, be bold, be courageous like the 4 lepers whose steps God amplified and it sounded like a great army. This week and just this week make it a point to take the giant leap into the unknown, do something you’ve never done! Keep running!
